Ares Landscape Architects were appointed in June 2011 to develop public realm proposals for a new public square at the heart of this Derbyshire village. Working closely with the Village Centre Group, we devised and managed a programme of extensive public consultation, which resulted in a radical proposal. The relocation of an existing public toilet block allowed for the manipulation of built form to shape a new civic space.
The new space opened to the public in 2017
