This week sees the formal opening of the Crown Place Residences scheme for the University of Liverpool.
Developed with Lewis & Hickey (Architecture) and Curtins (Engineering), this complex scheme hides a particular secret. The majority of the new public realm sits over a slab covering the Network Rail Mainline between London and Liverpool. This required us to work to very specific constraints, with most of the landscape becoming a roof garden.
One very prominent feature is the Barbara Hepworth statue, previously located outside Senate House, which is now placed within the new landscape at the heart of the scheme.
The opening ceremony is Thursday 19th March, 2.00pm
